ETH Chair of Productions & Operations Management Corporate Film

When I was first approached by the Chair of Production & Operations Management (POM), ETH Zürich to produce and direct a corporate film for them, I knew it was a project I had to take. After all it's for my alma mater, and the scope of research that POM engages in is something that the world today sorely needs. Here's what POM does summarised in 4 minutes!

The research focus lies on performance improvement programmes, management of new technologies in production and operations management, and international operations management.

The employees at the Chair of POM share three fundamental values:
Care for the environment and society.
Respect the individual, regardless of his/hers background and situation.
Cherish a strong team spirit.

"Robot" - The Sam Willows | Memory Lane Dance Concept

I had immense fun directing this film, and I felt so much love working with these amazing talented dancers. Yes we did another dance film again, and here is the message behind it! I hope you guys like it.

Love is accepting people for who they are, no matter what.  Truly loving someone requires compromise and patience. And that includes platonic love as well, and our relationships with our family & friends. Part of our message is also about how you have to learn to love the big glorious mess you are before you can properly love others.

When I first heard "Robot" by The Sam Willows, I was immediately hooked. It's not a song just about romantic love. It's also about the strength required to build and hold onto true relationships, and that includes platonic relationships, with our parents, with our siblings and our friends.

We all have our flaws, and as the song goes:
"you're not a robot, you've got a heart
And though it feels heavy, that's where we'll start"

Are you looking to get some portrait shots done, or maybe a promotional video ad for your business? Maybe even a social media video to get a message heard for your social enterprise? Whether it's corporate videos, wedding photography or even educational video courses, give me a shout and let's have a chat about what ideas you have in mind for a possible photo/video project.

If you are interested in working with me on a project, just drop me a comment or message me on Facebook or Instagram.

It's been a great couple of years working as a photographer and film maker in Switzerland and Singapore, and it's pretty mind blowing that I have had the opportunity to work on so many photography & film projects in so many different fields. I have learned so much working on professional sets in the last few years and I am so thankful for these experiences.

Go For Your Mountain

The good folks at Empower Aging (which is a non-profit organisation with a mission to combat Ageism and to empower the elderly) contacted me for a really spontaneous video project to promote their upcoming event, GYM. I was initially hesitant to take up additional projects because I already had quite a number lined up from May to July. After giving some thought, I went ahead anyway because I really felt that Empower Ageing's mission had so much meaning.

"To dream, is a powerful thing that gives meaning to people. That's why GYM (Go for Your Mountain) Challenge wants to rally families and communities to come alongside your seniors to believe in their dreams and encourage them to pursue their dreams!

Seniors can be mountain conquerors - showing resilience to overcome their barriers and persevering till they get to their "peak". Come September 2018, join 800 others who will form intergenerational teams to scale up Mount Faber to share this important message. Together we can change how we all view ageing and old people. Would you join us to Go for Your Mountain?"

Switzerland Aerial Montage - DJI Mavic Air

It's been about 1.5 months since I have got the new Mavic Air, and I still can't believe how small this drone is. My first drone was the Phantom 3 Pro which required a whole haversack to carry (not to mention the controller itself was even bigger than the Mavic Air). Bringing a drone on hikes was a challenge in the past, but now I have something not much larger than my smartphone, and I can bring it along everywhere I go. This was something I pulled together quickly, using footage I recorded during my test flights. Can't wait to make full of the Mavic Air on a proper project soon.

Food Composed Trailer - Secret Food Photography Tips & Tricks

I have had the privilege to work on set to produce a couple of videos including this opening trailer for the course by That's Sage - Food Photography Tips & Resources. You have no idea how hungry I got during the shoot, and it was so incredible how much amazing footage you can get from our small little ‘studio’ which really was just an ordinary kitchen space.
Just give the video a watch, you can skip my blabbering at the front and go to the 1:28 mark to see some exciting snippets of the course. :)
"Attention all foodies, food bloggers and hungry humans! 🍔 Have you ever seen a bunch of yummy, professional looking food photos on Instagram and just wonder how on earth did they make it look so good? Food Composed is an online web course that aims to teach people from all levels (both amateurs and professionals) how to take those amazing food photos!"

BRUNO MARS - FINESSE | JoyfulDance Choreography

Another super spontaneous collaboration with Serena Quagliarelli and crew from JoyfulDance. I love the fact that you can tell how passionate and happy they are doing what they love - see the smiles on their faces. It's always super easy to work with this group of professional dancers, and we wrapped the shoot up within an hour.

Also tried this new workflow for colour grading in Premiere, and I think I am slowly getting a hang of it. It was really tricky to shoot slow motion with the fluorescent tube lights though, but I think it went well overall.

Polyhack - 24 Hour Hackathon

11/3/2017

It was an extremely humbling experience shooting this for the 24 hour long hackathon, Polyhack. The crazy amount of talent and the level of genius in one common space really blew my mind, and the dedication that the participants had to their work was really over the top. Many of them brought wide screen monitors to the event just so they could have more screen real estate to code, write scripts and collaborate with work together.
It was no doubt tiring for me to do this shoot, but it was incredibly fun to pull together too. Shoutout to the organisers who did a fantastic job managing the logistics, running the whole event and implementing the event from paper to action so smoothly.

24 hour hackathon event shoot = SHAG. But so glad to have done it anyway because I learned so much from just being immersed in the whole environment.

Happy to pull this quick video together for a pro bono project with Dookki Singapore. This was shot in less than an hour and it was a challenge to do this without disturbing the surrounding customers. On another note, the Korean rice cakes here are simply to die for.
