ETH Chair of Productions & Operations Management Corporate Film

7/9/2018

When I was first approached by the Chair of Production & Operations Management (POM), ETH Zürich to produce and direct a corporate film for them, I knew it was a project I had to take. After all it's for my alma mater, and the scope of research that POM engages in is something that the world today sorely needs. Here's what POM does summarised in 4 minutes!

The research focus lies on performance improvement programmes, management of new technologies in production and operations management, and international operations management.

The employees at the Chair of POM share three fundamental values:
Care for the environment and society.
Respect the individual, regardless of his/hers background and situation.
Cherish a strong team spirit.

"Robot" - The Sam Willows | Memory Lane Dance Concept

I had immense fun directing this film, and I felt so much love working with these amazing talented dancers. Yes we did another dance film again, and here is the message behind it! I hope you guys like it.

Love is accepting people for who they are, no matter what.  Truly loving someone requires compromise and patience. And that includes platonic love as well, and our relationships with our family & friends. Part of our message is also about how you have to learn to love the big glorious mess you are before you can properly love others.

When I first heard "Robot" by The Sam Willows, I was immediately hooked. It's not a song just about romantic love. It's also about the strength required to build and hold onto true relationships, and that includes platonic relationships, with our parents, with our siblings and our friends.

We all have our flaws, and as the song goes:
"you're not a robot, you've got a heart
And though it feels heavy, that's where we'll start"
